Go Smoke-free! Incentive to Quit Smoking |
|||||||||||||
The key to quitting smoking is motivation. The reasons for quitting are as numerous and various as the smokers who want to quit.
There's a story about a young monk who told his master that he wanted to see God. The master walked him out into the river and held his head under the water. The young monk thrashed about and finally struggled up for air. "Why did you do that?" he gasped. The master said "When you want to see God that badly, you will see him." It's the same with smoking. When you want to quit that badly, you can do it.
If you can't get motivated for yourself (often the case because smokers tend to suffer from a lack of confidence and low self-esteem), please remember that your family loves you. If you can't quit for yourself, do it for them. In fact, we all quit sooner or later...either by choice or by death. Why not do it now, on your own terms, before the choice is made for you...and the terms are disastrous. While there are many products and services offering help for quitting, I have no experience with them. My area of expertise is counter-advertising and prevention, and personally, I quit "cold turkey" when I learned that I was pregnant with my first child years ago. Most of the people I know who quit successfully, did it the same way. (except for the pregnant part)
