How to know if you're addicted If you neglect your personal or work responsibilities, alter your daily routines, or defy common-sense behavior in order to satisfy your desires or cravings, there’s a good chance that you’re addicted. For example, If you hate going out into the cold and rain to have a cigarette, but you do it anyway… If you drive all over town at 3:00 AM to buy cigarettes so that you’ll have one on hand when you wake up in the morning... If you feel edgy or nervous or slightly nauseated if you get can’t get outside for a smoke… If you spend alot of time in other people's tobacco smoke and it doesn't bother you... If you hide your smoking from others... If you find yourself indulging in behaviors of this kind, you've probably got a problem.
If allowed to continue, I started smoking when I was 12 years old, and it was one of the great joys in my life. Nearly 45 years later, my addiction had grown to four packs a day. Smoking turns nice people into addicts; addiction turns addicts into selfish, destructive, irrational slaves...slaves to a plant.
